With the stork circling low over Kensington Palace, the expected arrival of the latest royal has got tongues wagging worldwide, including ours at the 4media group.

Within minutes of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s announcement bookies were flooded with bets, whether the nation could expect a little prince or princess and what name Will and Kate would be picking were chief amongst the top markets.

As we are a naturally curious bunch, we sought the help of Atomik Research to conduct a PR survey finding out the general public’s thoughts and what they predicted the little bundle of joy’s name will be.

Having chosen traditional names for their son, George, four, and Charlotte, two, it looks more than likely they’ll stick with this trend.

In a PR survey of 780 people, the results show that the traditionally pink options are the theme and the public would love Will and Kate to welcome another daughter, with the top three all girls’ names.

The firm favourite, also the name of another strong monarch, Victoria, pipped an entirely traditional list of names for top of the pile by a land slide.

The new royal’s grandmother’s name, Diana, came in second, bumping the bookies favourite, Alice, down to third place. Proving the UK remains infatuated with the ‘People’s Princess’ two decades after she passed away.

There’s a few more existing royal names on the list, with the baby’s great grandparents also making it to the top ten, with Elizabeth and Phillip at numbers seven and eight respectively.

The British public seem to like the thought of another round table with Arthur coming in at number nine. However, as the new babe would be fifth in line to the throne it’s a long shot there will be another King Arthur this century.

Queen Victoria’s husband, Albert features at number six, Alexander and Alexandra were seen at number four and five. A Scottish favourite, James completes the list at number ten- all popular names on the linage of royal family trees.

The top 10 baby name predictions list according to our PR survey in full:

  • Victoria
  • Diana
  • Alice
  • Alexander
  • Alexandra
  • Albert
  • Elizabeth
  • Phillip
  • Arthur
  • James

No matter the name, we’re all looking forward to April 2018 to welcome a new national treasure – a rose by another other name would still smell as sweet. I do have money riding on a rose called Victoria now though, so Will, Kate, help a girl out here.
