4media group recently worked with Asda after research from Asda Pharmacy showed the true extent those with hay fever really suffer throughout the summer months. The broadcast day was fronted by British Olympic medallist and former World Champion, Colin Jackson – who has suffered with hay fever for years and was forced to give up a career in cricket as a result of the condition. Alongside him was pharmacist Maq Din who was on hand to give tips and advice for hay fever sufferers.

For those who suffer from hay fever, enjoying all that summer has to offer is far easier said than done. An estimated 18 million people in the UK are said to suffer from hay fever, and symptoms can make life a misery.

The campaign itself focused on increasing awareness of both the symptoms of hay fever and how it can really take its toll on sufferers. 51% of hay fever sufferers claim that the condition prevents them from enjoying life in the summer months. Over 6 in 10 Brits suffer from sleepless nights, leading to half suffering from fatigue a result of their hay fever.

The research by Asda Pharmacy also suggests that it can be a lonely condition, with more than half (54%) saying that they find other people don’t quite understand their condition and find other people aren’t sympathetic to the difficulties that they face.
